A bedroom is a really one of the most special spots in your home. It’s the first place you wake up in the morning and it’s where you complete your day. It can be the start to a wonderful day or the comfort after a crappy one. It’s where you sleep, rest and rejuvenate. It’s where you dare to dream, read, blog, laugh, cry. It’s a haven of relaxation, safety, love and inspiration. It’s where you create life and love and where Sunday mornings are spent with breakfast in bed. You see … it’s a pretty darn important room! Which is why you need to create the absolute perfect bedroom space. We were so inspired by this dreamy romantic bedroom in Adore Magazine —and we can show you how to crate your own dreamy bedroom with two easy tips.

Mood Lighting

Consider the light in your space and what kind of mood you want to set. Because Ameka LOVES a room flooded with natural light, she wakes up in the morning and bursts open the curtains to let the sunshine pour in. I, on the other hand, value blackout curtains for optimal sleep and snuggle time under the covers with my kittens. Either way, blinds and curtains are so important to block out the world in order for you to shut off.

Managing bright lights in the evening is also important to consider as they will stimulate you at a time you are trying to wind down, so make sure the room is dimly lit … think a pretty bedside lamp or candlelight.

When it comes to color for your bedroom, I suggest choosing something within the family of blues and there are so many shades to choose from.

A dark blue will encourage clear thinking and removal of clutter. Using a dark shade on all walls of a room, however, may be overwhelming, so perhaps bring in the color with a painting or accent pillows.

Light blue will give you a sense of peace. It promotes tranquility and calm–in relationships and in life.  Consider painting the bedroom light blue, or adding accent pillows in the same shade.

Mix light and deep blues with jewel tones or soft pinks to create a sanctuary that will inspire you to rise and shine, while allowing you to relax at the end of a long day!

Use color to create warmth too— a vase of fresh flowers can really lift a room. Throw in a little texture with a faux fur throw and then top it all off with a candle to soften the space and give it a romantic feel. Peace, tranquility and a good night’s sleep is just a paint brush (or accessory) away!
