A girl can never be too old for a slumber party. The hubby's are away, and when the hubs away, the gals will play, so we decided to have a Girls’ Night In. Think pajamas, popcorn, a little vino, girl talk, flashback tunes and our favorite chick flicks! Sometimes all a girl needs is some down time with her girlfriends to just play again.

And the perfect way to wind down these girl-bonding nights is loading up the Netflix or even old-fashioned DVDs with the best movies ever.

Here are our 10 FAVORITE CHICK FLICKS for your Girls Night In!

All of these movies have a similar theme—transformation. Probably why so many of us can relate to these fantastic films is because we transform in many different ways over the years. Often, there is a life lesson to be learned and one that we must experience through a journey. Sometimes that journey includes wrong paths, mistakes and other calamities to make us realize what is important. Then there are those moments when we recognize we have made it onto the right path. In these movies, the characters have those defining moments, when they come to a realization that their life needs to change and then when they like it all the better when it has.  Some need to change their attitude about life. Some need to change their love life. Some need to just hit the start over button. We love to watch, cry and laugh as they do—and maybe even be inspired by some of their Hollywood antics.

We all have the ability to change, no matter where we are born, what we are born into or wherever our life journey has led us. In the transormations of my chick flick picks, the stories are about finding oneself, realizing priorities and making a change for the better.  We've all been there...I know I definitely have. How many opportunities do we get in our lives to make a change? To become a better person? To be brave enough to make those changes?

My favorite movie line takes place in "Overboard."  After a life-altering change and new appreciation for life, the main character asks her butler if he thinks she is crazy.  What he says in that moment is a life lesson that everyone should know.  His reply "Oh no, madam.  Oh no.  Most of us go through life with blinders on, only knowing the one little station to which we are born.  Now you, madam, had the rare opportunity to see life in an entirely new perspective.  What you do with that information is up to you."  I'm paraphrasing and probably didn't get every word correct but the message is there.

Through these movies, we may recognize our own priorities—of course, they are dramatized and out of whack, but it might be the push we need to point us in the right direction to happiness. The good news is that its' never too late.  At any age, any person, anywhere can transform—whether major or minor. The poetry which are these movies to me are examples of what can happen when we truly appreciate the little things in life, and value others over ourselves.  These stories are beautiful...with a little fun and laughter on the side.

Sadly, my reasoning for my chick flick faves is not as profound as Paige’s. These movies became my favorite chick flicks because of the women I watched them with. They take me back to different periods of my life where I got to spend time with incredible females. These women helped shape who I am and these movies remind me of that, in a really weird and wonderful way. I watched these movies while I was growing up, going through horrible breakups, helping my friends through horrible breakups, moving out of home, finding my feet in the world, learning about who I am … shoot I guess it is deep.

So open a bottle, grab the popcorn and tuck in with your besties for a night of serious chick flick bonding, whatever that may mean to you.
