How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? I know if I am doing a full body situation, I need 30-45 mins. That’s my hair washed, dryed, styled, full face of make-up, (contouring, the works) shaved legs, bronzing lotion and choosing an outfit. The whole damn enchilada. But I’ll be honest with you, most of my job consists of remaining in sweat pants with my hair in a top knot and not a scrap of make-up on. I am very un-glam.
The 10 Minute Challenge is just that. You take 10 minutes to get yourself ready for the world. Paige and I do it ALL THE TIME. The "look" generally consists of the same basics. Reliable, transitional pieces that can take you from day to night if need be and provides you with that effortless style. You know the one. Oh, this old thing? I just threw it on … and you literally did!
My 10 Minute Challenge looks like this!
First, I slap some BB Cream
on the face. My favorite is by Bali Body
but there are SO many good ones out there. It’s moisturizing but gives you just a little tint so you don’t feel naked. It’s also perfect for day time so you don’t have cake face. Less is more. Sometimes.
Next step, is my Better Than Sex mascara
by Too Faced
, and you know what? Between us ladies … it almost is. This is my FAVORITE mascara. It gives you thick, long, flirty lashes AND its vegan friendly for all of my animal friends out there. Seriously, if you skip all the other steps and just do one, make it be mascara. It give’s your eyes a little pop. Remember, your eyes are the window to the soul.
After this I use a kabuki brush and swipe on a little luna dust powder
by Young Blood
. When I say a little, I mean a little. A little bit of this powder goes a long way so apply with caution. I love this product because it adds a little highlight to the face and gives you that fresh faced, dewy glow.
The final step (for my face) is to throw some Papaw ointment
onto the lips to give them a glossy shine. It's also super nourishing too!
Confession: I hate lip gloss, it’s so sticky and your hair gets all caught up in it and it just feels gross. I am also not a mega fan of lipstick but I do wear it from time to time. I prefer just a little of the papaw ointment and I am good to go. Sometimes I line the outside of my lips using my Plum lip liner by Mac
and then throw the papaw over the top blending the lip liner in with the goodness which adds a little color.
I whip my hair back and forth! Well, I whip it out of its top knot and give it a brush. I usually curl my hair once or twice a week (depending on how often I wash it) and then I wear it in a bun at night with a good old fashioned scrunchy to keep the curl. Each day the curl gets softer but this trick saves me A LOT of time every day. Seriously, it’s the best advice I’ve ever been given and now it is my gift to you. If you’ve got some strays and kinks don’t sweat, the hat will take care of everything.
Today my hair is so gross. It's unwashed and is starting to dread - which it does if I leave it natural. I had to pull back my bangs though - they were DIRT-TEE.
I throw on my mom jeans
with a white top. Sometimes it’s a tee, sometimes it’s a crop, sometimes it’s a body suit. I love the look of crisp white and denim. It’s clean and simple.
Next a pair of my favorite kicks. Depending on the occasion will depend on the shoe. I usually keep a good stock of inventory in my car so that if my meetings run from day to night I can transition my look from Dr. Marten's
to a pump. Though, a little heeled bootie
is always safe for both day and night.
Last but not least, my saving grace. I finish off the look with a stylish hat. Two brands that I swear by are Lack of Color
and Rag & Bone
. They are a little pricey but the quality is worth the price tag and if you wear hats as much as I do its 100% worth it.
The 10 Minute Challenge is complete and I am good to go. Or as Paige and I call it G2G!
